Mr. Lance Harris, Headmaster

Mr. Harris was born and reared in Northeast Arkansas. He earned his Associate of Arts in Music from Southern Baptist College which is also where he met his wife Patty. He continued his education at John Brown University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education.  Mr. Harris taught choral music for 23 years and has served as a church music director for 21 years. He has been involved in Christian education in teaching and administrative positions for the past 11 years.  He has served as Covenant Classical Academy's headmaster and the Minister of Music for Community Presbyterian Church since 2003.  He and his wife Patty have five children, two of whom graduated from CCA.


Mrs. Jennie Jeffery

Kindergarten

Mrs. Jeffery grew up in Central California and moved to Southern California to attend The Master’s College.  She and her husband Elliott were married in 2011.  While they wait on the Lord’s timing and pray for the blessing of children, for now, they have a Puggle named Linus.  Mrs. Jeffery is an active member at Redeemer PCA where she serves on the Women’s Ministry team.  Mrs. Jeffery began teaching at CCA in 2017.

Mrs. Lisa Krystaponis

1st GRADE

Mrs. Krystaponis, affectionately known as "Mrs. K" is originally from Louisville but moved to Columbia, SC as a teenager.  She studied at the University of South Carolina and Rider College in NJ.  She and her husband John have 5 children and lived in New Jersey for 13 years before returning to Louisville.  Mrs. K has been teaching at Covenant Classical Academy since 1998. She and her husband John have been married since 1980. Her five children are all graduates of Covenant Classical Academy.

Mrs. Patty Harris

Mrs. Michelle Winstead

3rd & 4th Grade

Mrs. Winstead was born in St. Louis, MO. She received her BA in Elementary Education from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO and joined the teaching faculty at CCA in August 2016. She has been married to Barry since 1998 and they have two daughters both attending CCA. The Winstead's are members at Sanctuary Church in Louisville, KY.

Mrs. Laura Abbott

5th & 6th Grade

MRS. Brittany Loder

Mrs. Loder is originally from Douglasville, GA. She moved to Louisville to attend Boyce College and received a Bachelor's of Science In Humanities. She later attended New York University, where she received a Master's of Arts in Near Eastern & Egyptian Studies. She and her husband Charles have been married since 2015 and are members at First Baptist Church of Fisherville. She has been teaching at CCA since 2016.

Mrs. Melton was born and raised on a farm in northwest Iowa. She attended the University of South Dakota where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  She met her husband Herb, married and moved to Franklin, TN and then to Louisville in 1976.  She has taught in many different positions throughout her career, from 1st grade to GED classes since 1974. She and her husband Herb have been married since 1974 and have three children, the youngest of whom is a CCA graduate.  Mrs. Melton is a member of Community Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Laura Wierenga

Mrs. Wierenga was born and raised in Sterling, CO, the daughter of a pastor and teacher.  She attended the University of Sioux Falls where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. She had the opportunity to spend a semester studying at Hong Kong Baptist University and moved to Louisville in 2004 to attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. Mrs. Wierenga is an active member of Sojourn Community Church where she enjoys teaching Bible studies and women's theology classes.  She and her husband Tim have been married since 2015 and had their first child in July, 2017. Mrs. Wierenga began teaching at CCA in 2007.

Mr. Nick Dellis

Humanities

Mr. Dellis is originally from Milwaukee, Wi where he was born and raised.  He attended Boyce College where he received his B.S. in Humanities.  He is currently studying at The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.  Mr. Dellis served four years in the U.S. Army as a Sergeant in an Airborne Infantry Unit in Ft. Richardson, Alaska and was deployed to Afghanistan.  Mr. Dellis is married to his high school sweetheart Stephanie.  Mr. Dellis is an active member at Sojourn New Albany where he serves on the Connect Team.  Mr. Dellis began teaching at CCA in 2017.

Mr. Preston was born and raised in Minneapolis, MN.  He attended Bethlehem College & Seminary where he earned his B.A. in Biblical and Theological Studies.  He is currently enrolled at The Southern Seminary studying to obtain his Master’s of Divinity.  He and his wife Jessica have been married since 2016 and attend Sojourn Christian Church where he serves as an Intern for Church Planting.  Mr. Preston began teaching at CCA in 2017.

Mrs. Bethany Butler

Mrs. Butler was born and raised in Versailles, KY.  She attended Bellarmine University in Louisville where she received her Bachelor's Degree in Nursing.  Mrs. Butler worked in the Oncology Unit at both Shriners and Kosair Children's Hospital following college.  Mrs. Butler and her husband Bryce were married in 2006 and they have three children who attend CCA. Mrs. Butler began teaching and directing the athletic program at CCA in 2017.

MRS. CATHY MITCHELL

Mrs. Mitchell is originally from Sturgis, MI. She is a graduate of Alma College with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. She later received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. She has been married to Bruce since 1993 and they have five children, two of whom graduated from CCA and three who are current students. She has been a part of the CCA faculty in various capacities since 2010 and oversees development, events, and office administration. The Mitchell's are members at Community Presbyterian Church in Louisville.

Board of Directors

Mr. Herb Melton (Chair) - Mr. Melton has served businessmen and professionals in the Kentuckiana region for over forty years as a personal clothier and wardrobe planner with The Tom James Company.  Until 2005, he also served as senior sales manager for the region.  He is a graduate of The University of Notre Dame with a B.A. in Liberal Studies. Prior to participating in the founding of CCA, he served on the board of another Christian school for ten years.  Mr. Melton attends Community Presbyterian Church where he has served as an elder for many years.  He and his wife Barb have three grown children.

Mr. Barry Winstead (Secretary) - Mr. Winstead is the Clinical Director of Kilgore Samaritan Counseling Center, a pastoral counseling center in Louisville, KY. He holds a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, is a licensed marriage and family therapist in KY and IN, and is a clinical faculty member at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has been a  as a clinician, teacher, and supervisor in the fields of marriage and family therapy and pastoral counseling. Most importantly, he is a husband to Michelle, and the father of two amazing girls who attend CCA. 

Dr. Ron Morton - Dr. Ronald Morton is Professor of Pediatrics in Pulmonology at the University of Louisville. He is board certified in pediatric pulmonology and earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine.  His Internship and Residency were completed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas and his pulmonary fellowship was completed at University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.  He has been a board member for CCA since 1998 and and elder of Community Presbyterian Church since 2005. He and his wife Diane have three children.

Mr. Mark Minnery - Mr. Minnery is the President & CEO of SinglePoint Solutions Inc., a regional telecommunications brokerage firm, and Managing Partner of Palladium Consulting Group, LLC, a regional telecommunications agency. He served three years as an elder at Sojourn Community Church, where he also was a member of their Financial Advisory and Compensation Review teams. Mark has been married to his wife Jessie since 1999 and they have four children. 

Mr. Craig L. Johnson - Mr. Johnson is an attorney with Whonsetler & Johnson, PLLC.  Mr. Johnson received his B.S. in Business Management from the University of Kentucky and his Juris Doctor Degree from the University of Louisville School of Law.  He has practiced law since 1994 and majority of his current practice involves the defense of nursing homes and medical practitioners in medical malpractice actions through trial. Mr. Johnson joined the CCA board in 2017.  He and his wife Aimee attend Southeast Christian Church and they have seven children, the youngest of whom currently attend CCA.
