Mr. Lance Harris, Headmaster

Mr. Harris was born and reared in Northeast Arkansas. He earned his Associate of Arts in Music from Southern Baptist College which is also where he met his wife Patty. He continued his education at John Brown University where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Music Education.  Mr. Harris taught choral music for 23 years and has served as a church music director for 21 years. He has been involved in Christian education in teaching and administrative positions for the past 11 years.  He has served as Covenant Classical Academy's headmaster and the Minister of Music for Community Presbyterian Church since 2003.  He and his wife Patty have five children, two of whom graduated from CCA.


Mrs. Lisa Krystaponis

Kindergarten

 

Mrs. Krystaponis, affectionately known as "Mrs. K" is originally from Louisville but moved to Columbia, SC as a teenager.  She studied at the University of South Carolina and Rider College in NJ.  She and her husband John have 5 children and lived in New Jersey for 13 years before returning to Louisville.  Mrs. K has been teaching at Covenant Classical Academy since 1998.  She and her husband John have been married since 1980. Her four oldest children are graduates of Covenant Classical Academy.

Mrs. Patty Harris

1st & 2nd Grade

 

Mrs. Harris was born in New Orleans, LA and moved to North Central Arkansas in her later childhood.  She attended Southern Baptist College where she met her husband Lance.  She continued her education at John Brown University in music performance.  She home schooled her 5 children until she began teaching in Christian schools in 2002.  She is an active member of Community Presbyterian Church.  She and her husband Lance have been married since 1985 and have five children, the youngest of whom graduated from CCA in the spring of 2015.

MRS. Michelle Winstead

3rd & 4th Grade

Mrs. Winstead was born in St. Louis, MO. She received her BA in Elementary Education from Lindenwood University in St. Charles, MO and joined the teaching faculty at CCA in August 2016. She has been married to Barry since 1998 and they have two daughters both attending CCA. The Winstead's are members at Sanctuary Church in Louisville, KY.

Mrs. Loder is originally from Douglasville, GA. She moved to Louisville to attend Boyce College and received a Bachelor's of Science In Humanities. She later attended New York University, where she received a Master's of Arts in Near Eastern & Egyptian Studies. She and her husband Charles have been married since 2015 and are members at First Baptist Church of Fisherville. She has been teaching at CCA since 2016.

Mrs. Wierenga was born and raised in Sterling, CO, the daughter of a pastor and teacher.  She attended the University of Sioux Falls where she earned her Bachelor of Arts in English. She had the opportunity to spend a semester studying at Hong Kong Baptist University and moved to Louisville in 2004 to attend the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary where she earned a Master of Arts in Theological Studies. Mrs. Wierenga is an active member of Sojourn Community Church where she enjoys teaching Bible studies and women's theology classes.  She and her husband Tim have been married since 2015. Mrs. Wierenga began teaching at CCA in 2007.

She attended the University of South Dakota where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education.  She met her husband Herb, married and moved to Franklin, TN and then to Louisville in 1976.  She has taught in many different positions throughout her career, from 1st grade to GED classes since 1974. She and her husband Herb have been married since 1974 and have three children, the youngest of whom is a CCA graduate.  Mrs. Melton is a member of Community Presbyterian Church.

Mrs. Jana Askins

Mrs. Askin's is originally from Summit, NJ. She holds a BS in k-12 Physical Education from Houghton College. She has been teaching since 2005 and joined the CCA Faculty in 2016. Jana has been married to Ben since 2005 and they have four children. They are members at Fellowship Church in Louisville.

MRS. CATHY MITCHELL

Administration & Development

Mrs. Mitchell is originally from Sturgis, MI. She is a graduate of Alma College with a BA in Psychology and Sociology. She later received her Master's in Social Work from the University of Kentucky. She has been married to Bruce since 1993 and they have five children. She has been a part of the CCA faculty in various capacities since 2010 and oversees development, events, and office administration. The Mitchell's are members at Community Presbyterian Church in Louisville.

Mrs. Mandy Johnson

After School Care

 

Mrs. Johnson was born in Ft. Worth, Texas. She attended Oklahoma Baptist University where she earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise Science.  She met her husband and married in 2014.  She and her husband Joshua have recently moved to Louisville in order for him to attend The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Mrs. Johnson also attends the Seminary Wives Institute at Southern. Mr. and Mrs. Johnson own a Maltese Yorkie (Morkie), Leia. The Johnson's are members of Sojourn Community Church.

Board of Directors

Mr. Herb Melton (Chair) - Mr. Melton has served businessmen and professionals in the Kentuckiana region for over forty years as a personal clothier and wardrobe planner with the Tom James Company. Until 2005, he also served as senior sales manager for the region. Prior to participating in founding CCA, he served on the board of another Christian school for ten years.

Mr. Bryce Butler (Vice Chair/Treasurer) - Bryce is the Founder & Managing Director of Access Ventures, an impact investment group in Louisville, KY. Bryce is also the Executive Director of the BlueSky Network, a venture philanthropy family office in Southern Indiana with activities around the world. Previously, Bryce was the Executive Pastor of Sojourn Community Church in Louisville, KY and served on active duty in the United States Army from 2003-2007 as an Armor Officer. He has an MA in Theology from The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and a BS in Economics from Iowa State University. Bryce has been married to his wife Bethany since 2006 and they have three children. 

Mr. Barry Winstead (Secretary) - Mr. Winstead is the Clinical Director of Kilgore Samaritan Counseling Center, a pastoral counseling center in Louisville, KY. He holds a Master of Divinity in Pastoral Counseling from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy from Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary, is a licensed marriage and family therapist in KY and IN, and is a clinical faculty member at Louisville Presbyterian Theological Seminary. He has been a  as a clinician, teacher, and supervisor in the fields of marriage and family therapy and pastoral counseling. Most importantly, he is a husband, and father of two amazing girls who attend Covenant Classical Academy.

Mr. Ben Askins - Ben is a staff sergeant and a combat medic in the U.S. Army (National Guard). He has degrees from Houghton College (B.S. Intercultural Studies, Outdoor Education), the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary (M.Div.), graduated from the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS), and is a PhD candidate at Trinity College, Bristol (UK). An Iraq War veteran, his professional career has focused on tactical medicine, wilderness medicine, and search-and-rescue. He and his wife have been married since 2005 and they have four delightful children.

Dr. Ron Morton - Dr. Ronald Morton earned his medical degree from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine.  His Internship and Residency were completed at William Beaumont Army Medical Center in El Paso, Texas and his pulmonary fellowship was completed at University of Colorado Medical Center in Denver, Colorado.  He is board certified in pediatric pulmonology. Presently, Dr. Morton is Professor of Pediatrics in Pulmonology at the University of Louisville. He has been a board member for CCA since 1998 and and elder of Community Presbyterian Church since 2005. He has been married to Diane since and they have children.

Mr. Mark Minnery - Mark is the President & CEO of SinglePoint Solutions Inc., a regional telecommunications brokerage firm, and Managing Partner of Palladium Consulting Group, LLC, a regional telecommunications agency. He served three years as an elder at Sojourn Community Church, where he also was a member of their Financial Advisory and Compensation Review teams. Mark has been married to his wife Jessie since 1999 and they have four children.
